Travelodge Hotels & Little Chef restaurants were sold from their parent company, Compass Group; immediately given the problem of building their own head-office departments & supporting systems from scratch in unbelievably short timescales. Not only that, but no sooner had Travelodge & Little Chef been separated from the mother company but they also separated once more as independent companies.

New departments, new systems, old data but a great team all worked with us in this environment of constant change to maintain order & focus with some challenging technical & ‘people’ issues. We successfully acted as both technical & human integrators bringing people & systems together in harmony.

 
   
 

CHALLENGE

Create new payroll, finance, & human resource systems within incredibly critical & short deadlines (improving existing processes where possible) This included removing the company data from its parent, reviewing existing processes and modifying or redesigning these to work with leading edge technologies.

   

SOLUTION

We took charge as Technical Project Mangers & Business Process/ Quality Assurance Manager ensuring completeness of design

We liaised as diplomats between the technical team & business teams (ensuring the best interests of Travelodge/ Little Chef were upheld)

Rapid technical development & dynamic change control of simultaneous staggered projects & rollouts

Managed & directed system acceptance testing end-to-end Training of national

Training of national staff through a mobile classroom

   

RESULTS

Travelodge & Little Chef were freed from their parent; given their own new systems & processes

Payroll of 10,000+ staff was achieved on time

Integrated the leading edge technology of SAP R/3 with a valuable but unreliable 25 year old computer system

Amey plc is a group of facilities management companies. They provide services from security guards to road & hospital construction. Their back-office operations were surprisingly similar: identify cost of services & materials used per client per project add profit margin &/ or management fee, invoice, collect cash, report to executive management, repeat.

They wanted all companies to use the same processes & thereby save cost. We worked with Amey plc to assure the completeness of the new business processes, quality of the design of the new technical system (the
advanced SAP R/3 ERP system) & ensure the controlled management of the complex technical development.
